I've been busy for ages with the work people pay me to do, so I haven't put anything on this site for a while. But don't think I haven't noticed that since I've stopped writing anything on it, loads of people seem to be visiting it*. Once I get a bit of a respite I'll try to dampen down the interest again by putting some more stuff up. By the way, thank you to everyone who has got in touch about things on the site, even if you didn't use the comment facility that I laboriously wrestled into working order. I do mean thank you though. I just sound petulant because I'm tired. How about you at home? Do you sound petulant when tired? Let us know by filling in the box at the bottom of the page. Mark your entry 'tired petulance'. The best entry wins a picture of a horse. Worst entry: two pictures of a horse. What am I talking about? I ought to go to bed. |

I've never quite known what to write in this blog bit, as Andrew Nelson sort of pointed out in his comment on my inaugural (and almost only) blog entry. I emailed him today to complain about his behaviour in a dream I had last night, and it struck me that it was the sort of brief, inconsequential thing a person might put in a blog. Here it is: I had a dream last night in which I discovered that my real father was John McCririck. I went to visit him and he was in a terrible state, sweating and wailing over everything – it was very authentic. You stopped by and disapproved of me severely for allowing him to get like that, and you decided to stay with him for a few days to get him sorted out, frowning at me all the while. I felt terribly guilty and also a bit aggrieved, as I’d only just found out he was my dad, and he was John McCririck, but no one had any sympathy for me. |

This is my first ever blog entry, to mark the official launch of this website. I won't make a habit of looking at the web statistics thing to see whether anyone is coming to the site (partly because I don't really understand what it all means), but I feel I should tell you that 100% of today's visitors use the Firefox browser, and 16.7% are based in the Seychelles - though there were only five visits (and I think I've been here more than five times). I think there might be a strong random element in the statistics program. Thus ends my first blog post. Goodnight you five, unless you're me. And my especial best wishes to the slightly less than one of you who lives in the Seychelles. |

This is also just a test, but posted in a different way. It's all tremendously technical. I doubt that you'd understand it. |

This is just to test this out - it's not a real blog post, honest. |
